Cover design and an idea for an interactive fiction book called Ghosts, talking about the life of a modern person and three realities they live in - their dreams, digital world, and the physical world. This is my final project from a Graphic Design course.
UNI Project
Create a graphic design that includes two author’s photos, a graphical element, 900+ character text, and a title. The theme is free to choose.
I observe a problem of young people reading less and less, which inspired me to create an interactive book attracting youngsters, and encouraging them to read more, while having a physical book in hand.
The first thing I did was a photoshoot with my friend Lucas. My favorite photos were him holding a phone, which inspired me to create a story of people turning into ghosts when they are on their phones. (They are not fully present when they enter the digital world.)
Now that I had a topic concerning young people, I wanted to enhance their reading experience. After designing the book cover including the dust jacket, I put a QR code on it to make it interactive. After scanning the code, readers could receive messages containing parts of the story through Messenger. AI chatbot could even reply to readers' messages. That’s how the book itself becomes part of two realities.
The result was not just a simple graphic design of a book cover but an idea for an interactive book that would attract teens and encourage them to read.
